Stainless Steel Drums Gain Demand for Tough Industrial Use

2026-05-15

For industries requiring secure storage of corrosive liquids while meeting stringent hygiene standards, stainless steel tight-head drums have emerged as the preferred solution. These containers combine exceptional corrosion resistance with reliable sealing capabilities, making them ideal for medical, food, and chemical applications where high-purity liquid storage is essential.

Available in four standard capacities (20L, 60L, 100L, and 200L), these drums cater to diverse volume requirements across multiple sectors.

Key Advantages of Stainless Steel Tight-Head Drums

  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: Manufactured from premium stainless steel, these drums demonstrate excellent chemical compatibility, preventing container degradation and protecting stored contents.
  • Hygienic Construction: The non-toxic, odorless stainless steel material allows for easy cleaning and sterilization, complying with medical and food industry sanitation protocols.
  • Robust Durability: High-strength stainless steel construction ensures impact resistance and longevity during transportation and routine use.
  • Versatile Applications: Suitable for storing pharmaceuticals, food products, industrial chemicals, alcohol, cosmetics, and various other liquids.
  • UN Certification: All drum sizes carry UN certification, meeting international standards for hazardous material transportation.

Technical Specifications

The following table details dimensional parameters and material thickness for each available drum size:

Capacity Inner Diameter (mm) Diameter Tolerance (mm) Total Height (mm) Height Tolerance (mm) Internal Height (mm) Internal Height Tolerance (mm) Standard Thickness (mm) UN Certification
200L 567 ±3 895 ±5 845 ±5 1.5 Liquid
100L 450 ±3 710 ±5 660 ±5 1.2 Liquid
60L 395 ±3 580 ±5 530 ±5 1.2 Liquid
20L 288 ±3 375 ±5 335 ±5 0.7 Liquid

Bung Gasket Options

To ensure optimal sealing performance, two gasket material options are available for the drum closures:

  • Polyethylene (PE) Gaskets: Provided as standard equipment, these gaskets offer cost-effective performance for general-purpose liquid storage applications.
  • Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE/Teflon) Gaskets: These premium gaskets provide enhanced chemical resistance and higher temperature tolerance, suitable for aggressive chemicals or elevated temperature environments. Due to reduced flexibility, proper tightening is essential to prevent leakage.

PE gaskets are supplied by default unless otherwise specified. PTFE gaskets are recommended for specialized chemical storage or high-temperature applications.
